Born and raised in Zamboanga City, and lives in Cagayan de Oro City, Mis. Oriental, Philippines; writes short stories and novels, mostly historical novel. First novel, 'The Surveyors of Liguasan Marsh,' theme: Moro-Christian conflict, set in Cotabato, Mindanao, Carlos Palanca Award, grand prize; latest novel, sixth, 'The Survivors,' set in the mountains of Zamboanga, of one group of Zamboanguenos, out of thousands of civilians, who were used by Japanese soldiers retreating forces as human shields, from the liberating Ally forces during WW II, in 1944. Completed a new novel, 'The Siege of Fort Pillar,' last July, 2012, about the Zamboangueno revolution against Spain, 1899, led by unsung hero General Vicente Alvarez, and his men, all mestizos; the capture of Fort Pillar marks the end of Spain's over two decades of colonization and friars' abuses; and the sight of the USS Castine along Basilan Strait ominously foretold the presence of another imperial Power.
